Halloween Prom by Lee Murray

We’re pleased to share a little Halloween drabble* from award-winning New Zealand fantasy, science fiction and horror author Lee Murray. Lee’s latest title, Into the Ashes, the final book in her gripping Taine McKenna military thriller series, will be released in early 2019. #celebratehorror

“I don’t like it. She looks vampy.”

“Daaad!”

“Don’t listen to him, darling. It’s what they’re wearing these days, Damien. Remember our Halloween Prom?”

“It haunts me still; that ghastly outfit.”

“You were drop-dead gorgeous. The dark cape. Brilliant teeth. All the girls were dying to be with you.”

“Can I go now, please?”

“Promise me you won’t drink too much. And you have to be home before daybreak.”

“Daaad!”

“Honestly, Damien, she’s fifteen. Off you go, love. Have fun.”

“Hey, aren’t you forgetting something?”

Lilith stops, rolls her eyes, then steps forward and bites her mother on the neck.
